Family history and the Motorist, Colin McInnes

A talk on ways to find where your family came from, and ways you retrace their journey.

Family history can be all paper work, or it can involve putting life back into your ancestors, travelling to the old homes and haunts of one's family, walking in their shoes, and understanding their reasons for change. This talk will show ideas on planning your own journey into the past, as well as some of the pitfalls to avoid.

Colin McInnes works part time with Salford University and the WEA to bring Family history to the public sector. He gives talks on various aspects of Family History. And as a member of Manchester and Lancashire Family history society, he gives advice at various events. His interest in family History research began 10 years ago with a postal request from a "lost" family member.

Bike Section Ride Outs 2010

The next ride out will be on 28 March. See Bike Section page for more details or phone Dave Timmins on 01270 610332 for more information.

Group Walk - RoSPA Ramblers

Saturday 27th March, Little Budworth County Park

Meet in Coach Road car park at 09:45 for a 10:00 prompt start.

The next Group Walk will be on 27th March.

Location: Little Budworth County Park, OS Map Explorer 267 Grid Ref SJ590654.

Directions from Manchester / Stockport area. Take the M60 ring road towards M56 Chester. Leave the M56 at Junction 7, taking the A556 signed for Northwich. Continue on the A556 for about 16 miles up to the crossroads with the A49 at Sandiway and turn left onto the A49 following the signs for Whitchurch / Nantwich. Continue on the A49 for about 2.5miles, following the signs for Tarporley / Oulton Park. Coach Road is the next on the left after passing through the traffic lights at the A54 crossing, and is signposted for Oulton Park / Little Budworth (opposite Tarporley Garden Centre). The Country Park car park is on the left just before the end of Coach Road.

There are toilets at the start/finish but at present only the disabled toilet is open, so get there early! Bring some food and drink and wet gear if it looks like rain. Children and families welcome if they can walk the distance.

An enjoyable 5 mile walk around woodland, heathland, open country and Little Budworth village. Easy paths, so wearing trainers will be fine - no hills and hopefully some wild flowers to brighten the day. A few stiles and country lanes.
