Manchester Group of RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders run advanced driving and riding courses for any qualified driver over the age of 17 seeking to improve their driving or riding skills by becoming safer, more skillful drivers and riders.
The Car Section meet every second Sunday from the car park behind Woodley Civic Hall, Hyde Road, Woodley, Stockport, SK6 1QG. Stockport is within easy reach of Manchester, south Lancashire and north Cheshire. The Group run 3 advanced driving car courses each year. The next course starts with a Classroom session on 4th September 2008 . The Truth Behind Speed Cameras
Mike Downes, Project Manager for the Greater Manchester Casualty Reduction Partnership will be joining us to explain about the different types of Safety Cameras we see around Greater Manchester and how they work. He will explain about the camera site locations and how they're chosen. Mike will be pleased to answer questions about how the cameras are funded and tell us the truth as to whether the cameras are there to income generate or not. Where does the money from fixed penalties really go? Do cameras really work to reduce road casualties? Come along to
Woodley Civic Hall and ask your questions. There will be a chance to see some of the equipment and possibly see a laser camera in operation too! A night not to be missed!

MEET THE EXAMINER CLASSROOM
The next Meet the Examiner classroom session will be held at
Woodley Civic Hall on 31 July 2008 at 7.30pm. Examiner Bob Brittain will explain what to expect during the RoSPA Advanced Driving Test from the Cockpit Drill to the de-brief at the end of the drive. The object of the evening is to dispel any fears you may have about the test and to clarify any aspects of the course that didn't quite gel. This classroom session is aimed mainly at Associates on the present car course, but would be of benefit to bike Associates and to those Members about to take a re-test.
BIKE SECTION RIDE OUTS
The Bike Section meets at 10.00 am on the last Sunday of the month from one of three locations, from Poplar Services at Lymm, just off the M6, Junction 20. from Mottram Junction at the end of the M67 and from Ellesmere Centre at Walkden.
